What happens when businesses and social organisations come together to make a difference? At the Lebensnetze Marketplace, this idea becomes a reality. WAG took part again this year, demonstrating how fruitful discussions can lead to valuable partnerships and practical support.

A marketplace where help, not money, counts

Last week, for the 17th time, the Lebensnetze marketplace brought together businesses and charitable organisations at the Raiffeisen Arena on Linz’s Gugl. What makes this initiative special is that it is not money that is exchanged here, but time, knowledge, in-kind contributions and mutual support.

Social organisations present their specific needs, whilst businesses make their resources and expertise available. Through face-to-face dialogue, this gives rise to straightforward collaborations from which both sides benefit. The marketplace thus creates a platform where social responsibility can be experienced first-hand.

Social value that extends far beyond the marketplace

The true value of this initiative lies in channelling existing resources to where they are most urgently needed. Charities receive support for their vital work, whilst businesses are given the opportunity to make a direct contribution to social causes.

At the same time, new networks, mutual understanding and long-term partnerships are formed. This strengthens social cohesion, promotes solidarity and demonstrates that social challenges can often be tackled more easily when tackled together.

WAG turns discussions into concrete support

WAG also used the event to engage in dialogue with numerous social organisations, to learn about the challenges they face and to agree on concrete forms of support.

The encouraging result: around ten collaborative projects, which are now being implemented jointly. The support ranges from urgently needed office supplies to Jump Dome vouchers for children and young people with disabilities, right through to promotional materials for events and public relations work.

Co-operation partners include, amongst others, the Diakonie and the MPS Association. The latter supports children and families affected by mucopolysaccharidoses. These rare, progressive metabolic disorders present enormous challenges for those affected and their families. It is precisely here that targeted support can make a valuable contribution.

Achieving more together

For WAG, taking part in the Lebensnetze Marketplace is far more than just a single evening of social engagement. It is an expression of an ethos centred on responsibility, humanity and solidarity. #schongenial.
