However, innovation requires committed and highly qualified specialists who shape the future with creative ideas and technical expertise. Companies that invest in R&D not only secure long-term competitive advantages, but also contribute to sustainable development and job security.
An outstanding example of Austrian innovative strength is the company Hueck Folien, which received international recognition at the High Security Printing (HSP) conference in Basel for its new "Ocean Dollar" sample banknote. The company impressed the jury with its innovative security features and high quality and won the "Best House Note" competition.
Sustainable security solutions with high innovative strength
Hueck Folien 's research focuses on sustainable banknote technology that combines high-security features with environmentally friendly processes. In collaboration with a leading banknote paper mill, a recycling concept was developed that combines the highest security standards with sustainability. The Ocean Dollar impressively demonstrates that technological innovation and environmental awareness can go hand in hand.
The banknote contains recycled materials, including aluminium, paper and PET. Particularly noteworthy is the Optomove® security thread, which is made from recycled PET and aluminium and enables a CO₂ reduction of 53%. The Reef film strip with optical nanostructures and Trilumic® also contributes to sustainability and reduces CO₂ emissions by 26%.
International recognition for Austrian innovation
HSP EMEA is one of the most prestigious conferences in the field of high-security printing and brings together leading security printers, central banks and authorities every year. Hueck Folien was able to prevail in this high-calibre competition with its sustainable innovation.
"We are proud and happy to have won this award exactly on the 55th anniversary of our company's founding,"
says Martin Bergsmann, CEO of Hueck Folien. The international award shows that Austrian companies can set standards with their expertise not only at home, but also on a global level.
