The demands placed on starter and on-board batteries are constantly increasing. Start-stop systems, a growing number of electrical loads and increasingly complex comfort and safety features all call for high-performance, cycle-resistant energy storage solutions.

And even with the growing proportion of electrified powertrains, the traditional vehicle battery is by no means losing its importance: in electric and hybrid vehicles, the 12-volt system continues to perform key functions, powering essential electrical components and stabilising the vehicle electrical system.

More power for modern vehicle electrical systems

The Austrian battery manufacturer Banner is responding to this development with a wide-ranging portfolio. For vehicles with start-stop systems, for example, the Running Bull AGM and Running Bull EFB are available. Whilst AGM batteries are designed for frequent charge and discharge cycles as well as high energy demands, EFB technology represents a high-performance evolution of the traditional wet battery. The automotive range is complemented, amongst other things, by the Power Bull as a premium starter battery and the Buffalo Bull AGM for commercial vehicles.

Expanding into new areas of application with lithium

With a new product, Banner is now expanding its range beyond traditional starter and on-board electrical system applications. The new Traction Bull Bloc Lithium series marks the Austrian battery specialist’s first foray into the market for lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) batteries. The product range is primarily aimed at motorhomes, caravans and boats, as well as stationary off-grid applications.

Five battery types cover capacities ranging from 50 to 150 ampere-hours. Designed for repeated charging and discharging cycles, the batteries are expected to achieve more than 3,000 cycles at an 80 per cent depth of discharge. An integrated battery management system monitors, amongst other things, cell voltages, current flow and temperature. The 80, 100 and 150 ampere-hour variants also feature a self-heating function, which enables charging at temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius.

“With the new Traction Bull Bloc Lithium series, we are responding to the growing demand for high-performance, long-lasting and intelligent energy storage solutions. Automechanika offers the ideal platform to present this innovation to an international trade audience for the first time,” says Mag. Werner Töpfl, CEO of Banner GmbH.

We think it’s brilliant that these new products will be unveiled for the first time at Automechanika 2026, taking place from 8 to 12 September in Frankfurt, at a newly designed exhibition stand featuring our modernised corporate design.

It's nice to see so many positive things:
