The Pink Ribbon – a symbol that unites people worldwide
Every October, the focus turns to breast cancer worldwide. International Breast Cancer Awareness Month aims to raise awareness of the disease and, in particular, to highlight the importance of early detection.
The symbol of this movement is the pink ribbon. Internationally, it stands for solidarity with breast cancer patients, for hope and for our shared responsibility to talk openly about the disease.
The Pink Ribbon initiative pursues an important goal: breast cancer should not be a taboo subject. Rather, the aim is to inform people, encourage them to make use of early detection services, and offer encouragement to those affected and their families. Numerous events and campaigns bring this message to the public’s attention year after year.
Leonding comes together for a good cause
This cause has also been taken up in Leonding. On 13 October, the first ‘Pink Walk’ took place, during which participants joined forces to send a clear message against breast cancer.
Committed individuals and their four-legged companions set off to show solidarity and raise awareness of the disease.
It was not about speed or sporting excellence. Rather, the focus was on walking together. Every step was an expression of support and solidarity and conveyed an important message: no one should be left to face breast cancer alone.
A small initiative with a big message
The first Pink Walk in Leonding made it clear that it doesn’t always take large-scale events to draw attention to an important social issue. What matters most are people who take the initiative, share responsibility and encourage others. We think that’s #absolutelybrilliant.
