A handy tool for prevention
The test cards, which are the same size as a debit card, are easy to carry around and use. Just a few drops of a drink are enough to trigger a colour reaction that indicates the presence of most known knockout substances. The cards thus provide an additional way of identifying potential dangers at an early stage.
Prevention where young people are
By the end of February 2027, pro mente Upper Austria will have distributed around 7,500 test cards via schools, youth centres and street outreach programmes. Accompanying information materials provide knowledge about risks, protective measures and support services. The focus is particularly on empowering young women and girls, who are intended to gain greater confidence in taking action through practical tools and targeted education.

Through a wide range of counselling and support services, it supports people in various life situations. The distribution of the test cards forms part of this comprehensive commitment and demonstrates what effective prevention work can look like: with easily accessible resources, targeted information and services tailored to the realities of young people’s lives.
