Green Tech Valley - where dreams become reality

Green Utopia, Carbon Busters, FH JOANNEUM, TU Graz, University of Graz, Montanuniversität Leoben

True to the motto - we dream it, so we can do it! - more than 300 companies and research institutions in the south of Austria impressively demonstrate what human creativity and the spirit of cooperation can set in motion.

The students' projects and research results in particular read like something out of a future novel. Carbon busters combat toxic gases in the air, components grow directly from trees and bacteria are utilised as "employees" for clean production. Today still utopia, tomorrow (perhaps) already reality!

An award ceremony that shows once again that the students at the local colleges and universities are making extraordinary leaps in innovation with commitment, creativity and diligence and that the scientific institutions are actually much better than their reputation.

Utopian-creative short videos show how students can imagine solutions to the one or other challenge that awaits us. Eight high-tech research utopias were honoured this year and presented with the prestigious award.

"More and more technologies based on disruptive research for a green future are emerging from Europe, especially from Green Tech Valley in the south of Austria. These utopias make economic courage visible internally and excellent research visible externally," says Green Tech Valley Managing Director Bernhard Puttinger.

The short videos were produced by teams of students from FH JOANNEUM, Graz University of Technology, University of Graz, University of Leoben together with Creative Industries and Holzcluster Steiermark. These are now being widely communicated internationally in a campaign. Eberhard Schrempf, Managing Director of Creative Industries Styria: "Utopias are the reality of tomorrow, according to the motto: We dream it, so we can do it!"

As John F. Kennedy put it so beautifully: "Some people see things as they are and say: "Why?" I dream of things that never existed and say: "Why not?"

#schongenial - We make positive things visible - we make positive things conscious! already brilliant!
