The anniversary year was celebrated with numerous events, meetings and cultural programmes. The focus was not only on looking back at the past 50 years, but also on a conscious examination of the future. Leonding presented itself as a city with a strong sense of community, economic dynamism and a diverse club life supported by committed citizens.
However, 2025 was not only a year of urban remembrance, but also a year of other important anniversaries that characterise Leonding's social life.
A century full of sound
A special cultural highlight is already casting its shadow ahead: in 2026, the Leonding town band will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Founded in 1926 with just 20 members, it is now an integral part of the town's life with around 80 active musicians.
Musically, the ensemble performs at the highest level, as impressively demonstrated by the gold medal in level D at the 2025 district concert evaluation in St. Marien. However, in addition to artistic quality, the band is characterised above all by its strong cohesion. The anniversary year got off to a festive start in January with the concert "The festive start - 100 years of the Leonding municipal band" in the Kürnberghalle. A varied annual programme makes the anniversary an experience for all generations: a real piece of Leonding's musical heart.
Commitment for generations
The volunteer fire brigades also celebrate major anniversaries. 16 January 1876 marks the first documented appearance of the Leonding volunteer fire brigade. It can therefore look back on 150 years of history. For generations, dedicated men and women have volunteered in the service of safety and have played a decisive role in shaping public life.
The Rufling Volunteer Fire Brigade is also celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. Since 1926, it has been a reliable pillar of the emergency services and an indispensable part of the community.
#schongenial, because these anniversaries show impressively: Leonding thrives on tradition, cohesion and voluntary commitment.
