When a child is seriously or terminally ill, the daily life of the whole family changes. Care, medical treatment and concern for the child dictate the daily routine. At the same time, family life, with all its demands, must carry on as normal.

MOKI OÖ – Mobile Paediatric Nursing supports families in these challenging situations and brings specialist paediatric nursing care directly into the homes of those affected. This enables children to receive professional care in their familiar surroundings. For parents, this means peace of mind, relief and expert support. At the same time, mobile care helps to avoid or shorten hospital stays wherever possible.

100,000 euros that reach families

In 2025, Sparkasse OÖ supported MOKI OÖ with a World Savings Day donation of 100,000 euros. Today, we can see what this has achieved: tangible help, additional relief and new prospects for affected families.

This support has enabled 378 additional hours of care. These create valuable breathing space in a daily routine where breaks are often lacking – for example, for rest, necessary errands or spending time with siblings.

Furthermore, the donation enables swift and unbureaucratic assistance with individual additional needs, as well as financial relief by covering excess charges. The range of therapeutic services has also been expanded to include music therapy. A new laser and CRP device further improves mobile diagnostics and care.

And sometimes, support also means creating space for special moments: a shared afternoon at the zoo on Austrian Children’s Hospice and Palliative Care Day gave families a welcome break from their demanding daily lives.

A place to recharge for families

A particularly important future project for MOKI OÖ is the planned children’s day hospice ‘Leons Krafttankstelle’. There, seriously ill children will receive professional care and support during the day. This gives parents time to recharge their batteries, deal with administrative matters or spend quality time with their other children.

This support has also helped to advance the conceptual work for this new care service.

Taking joint responsibility for Upper Austria

Consequently, this World Savings Day donation has yielded far more than just financial support: a partnership based on trust that strengthens families today whilst helping to shape new care options for tomorrow.

#schongenial, because this commitment from Sparkasse OÖ shows that its original founding mission is still being lived out today: to empower people in our region and to take responsibility where support has a long-term impact.

It's nice to see so many positive things:
