This project makes an important contribution to preserving plant diversity and promoting environmentally conscious horticulture.
Joint project for sustainable gardening
The seed library is supported by city gardener Magdalena Miesenberger and KEM manager Josef Fürnhammer, BA. Various vegetable seeds are available to start with, and flower seeds will be added to the range at a later date. Interested parties can take or swap up to three bags of seeds per person.
"The seed library makes it possible to preserve and pass on regional and traditional plant varieties. In this way, we can work together to help preserve biodiversity in our gardens and promote sustainable cultivation methods,"
emphasises city gardener Magdalena Miesenberger.
A cycle for more diversity
The aim of the seed library is to preserve the genetic diversity of crops and to inspire as many people as possible for sustainable gardening. Anyone who has surplus seeds after the harvest can bring them back and thus support the cycle. The project is a great opportunity for families in particular to experience the natural growth process of plants and actively contribute to the preservation of biodiversity.
