The Repaircafè - a place of appreciation

Repaircafè, Leonding, co-operation project

In times when damaged items are often immediately disposed of and replaced, the awareness of the value and longevity of products is lost.

Instead of being repaired, many things are thrown away - wasting resources and adding to the mountains of rubbish. In Leonding, however, there is a valuable alternative to the throwaway culture.

Repairing together, protecting the environment and fostering community

Every third Wednesday of the month from 16:00 to 19:00, the Repaircafé invites people to the Michaelszentrum of the Leonding parish to have broken items repaired.

The Repaircafé Leonding is a cooperation project of the Agentur für Standort und Wirtschaft GmbH, the Climate and Energy Model Region (KEM) Kürnbergwald and the parish of Leonding and offers an excellent opportunity to have broken everyday items such as small electrical appliances, clothing and toys repaired.

Anything that can be worn can be brought along. Volunteers are on hand to help visitors and guests with their manual skills and technical support. Around 18 volunteers are currently involved in ensuring the smooth running and success of the Repair Café.

The Repair Café is much more than just a repair workshop.

It is a place to meet and socialise over a cup of coffee and a slice of cake. It is not only a place where people can experience a sense of achievement by repairing things together, but also a place to talk and exchange knowledge and experience.

The aim of the Repair Café is not only to prolong the life of items, but also to raise awareness of the environmental impact of our consumer behaviour. Everyone who comes with a broken appliance or item of clothing helps to counteract the throwaway culture and conserve resources.

For all those who have technical skills or simply enjoy working with their hands, the Repair Café also offers the opportunity to get involved as a volunteer and join the team. Tools and materials are available on site and participation is free of charge and non-binding for all participants.

The Repaircafé Leonding is therefore an inspiring initiative that not only repairs everyday objects, but also strengthens the community and sets an example for sustainability.

#schongenial - the Repaircafè - a wonderful example of how to strengthen society's ability to relate, contribute to the conservation of resources and pass on manual skills and expertise in an almost "playful" way. A project that calls for imitation in other places! Already brilliant!

It's nice to see so many positive things:
