Top performances at the 14th Federal Fire Brigade Performance Competition

14th Federal Fire Brigade Performance Competition

This year's Federal Fire Brigade Competition in Feldkirch once again brought to light the impressive achievements of the Austrian fire brigades. 384 groups from all over Austria as well as 28 guest groups from Germany, France, Italy (South Tyrol), Liechtenstein, Slovenia and Switzerland competed against each other to win the coveted national title.

It is particularly noteworthy that Upper Austria, which had already achieved a 5-fold success at the 13th Federal Fire Brigade Performance Competition in 2022, once again secured first place in several categories. They even managed to take first place in the new women's silver category.

The successes of the participating groups are the result of hard work, continuous training and exceptional team spirit. A total of 61 groups from Upper Austria qualified for the competition in Vorarlberg and completed a total of 90 runs. They seamlessly built on their successes from the 13th Federal Fire Brigade Performance Competition in St. Pölten and secured a place on the winners' podium in all categories.

The competition took place in summer temperatures of almost 30 degrees, which made it even more challenging for the participants. Nevertheless, the Upper Austrian groups once again showed why they are among the elite of the Austrian fire brigade. Cheered on by numerous fans from their home country, they delivered top performances and won in all categories.

Robert Mayer, Provincial Fire Brigade Commander of Upper Austria, was visibly proud: "It's great to be there in the Waldstadion Gisingen and to see so many dedicated groups. Such a participation requires hard work and great effort. That's why I'm particularly pleased that Upper Austrian groups are once again on the winners' podium with their impressive performances and in such large numbers. As the provincial fire service commander of Upper Austria, this makes me very proud, as it shows the enthusiasm for the fire service!"

A special example of the outstanding performance of the Upper Austrian competition groups was provided by the group from Bad Mühllacken, who set a clear example with 2788 faultless seconds in the fire-fighting attack and 4850 seconds in the relay race, thus laying the foundation for their top ranking. The Unterstetten 2 women's group also impressed with 3864 seconds in the extinguishing attack and 6269 seconds in the relay, which earned them victory in the corresponding category.

In the Bronze A category, the Upper Austrian groups were unbeatable and took the top five places. The Upper Austrian groups were also able to secure podium places in the Silver B category, which emphasises the outstanding quality and high level of training in Upper Austria's fire brigades.
