As a young girl, she had to leave her home country behind and start a new life in Austria. These experiences strengthened her ability to adapt to new circumstances and overcome obstacles - qualities that she later utilised in her career in the technical sector.
In her new environment, she discovered her enthusiasm for technology early on. Shahnaz recognised the opportunities and possibilities offered by technical innovations to change the world for the better. However, as a woman in a male-dominated professional field and with a cultural past that is often tainted with prejudice, she had to fight against resistance time and again.
From a new start to a pioneer for diversity in technology
Despite all the challenges, Shahnaz managed to build a remarkable career in the technical field. She impresses not only with her technical expertise, but also with her commitment to encouraging young women to confidently pursue a career in technology. Her commitment to equal opportunities and diversity makes her an outstanding personality whose impact extends far beyond her professional success.
On 13 November 2024, Shahnaz Rahmati was named Girls! TECH UP Role Model 2024, organised by the OVE.
An ambassador for the next generation
This honour is in recognition of her achievements and her role model function for the next generation of women in technical professions. In her acceptance speech, she said:
"I am honoured to be perceived as a role model and I see it as my responsibility to show others that dreams can come true if you work hard and believe in yourself."
