At the same time, many older people have a growing desire for community and a supportive social environment. This is precisely where modern living concepts come in: They create spaces in which people can live independently without having to do without support.
A successful example of this new generation of age-appropriate living has now been officially opened by gswb in the Itzling district of Salzburg: the Schopperstraße assisted living project.
A home with heart and mind - the new project in Itzling
The new gswb residential complex was designed especially for older people. The three-storey building comprises 16 barrier-free flats with functional layouts, contemporary bathrooms and private outdoor areas. A communal room offers space for socialising and exchange. Care is provided by the Diakoniewerk, which offers support in everyday life if required.
The central location in Itzling means that local amenities, medical facilities and public transport are easily accessible. A communal photovoltaic system on the roof also contributes to the building's energy efficiency.end of form
gswb: Responsibility for today and tomorrow
With the project in Schopperstraße, gswb, Salzburg's largest non-profit housing developer, is once again demonstrating what sustainable housing can look like. With a construction volume of over 54 million euros and hundreds of new residential units in 2025, the company is focussing on growth with social aspirations.
"With this project, we are creating a valuable home for older people - central, affordable and with high building quality," emphasises gswb Managing Director Ferdinand Hochleitner. In this way, gswb proves that living in old age can be more than just barrier-free - it can also mean joie de vivre, community and security.
#It is #schongenial that affordable, barrier-free living space has been created here that not only offers older people security and independence, but also combines community and needs-orientated care under one roof.
