In keeping with the spirit of St Vincent de Paul, the Vinzenzstüberl has been run by the Linz Sisters of Mercy Hospital since 2018. Vincent de Paul, who lived in France in the 17th century, is not only a patron saint of those in need, but also of those involved in social work.
The Vinzenzstüberl is an initiative of the house community of the Hospital of the Sisters of Mercy, which is dedicated to people in need. It is a place of refuge for those experiencing a crisis and for those for whom a hot meal is a significant help.
What does the Vinzenzstüberl offer?
- Medical care: Every Wednesday at 14:00, a doctor's consultation is available to offer medical support to those in need.
- Hot meals: A hot meal is often more than just food. It is a sign of care and appreciation.
- Laundry: In co-operation with dedicated helpers, guests of the Vinzenzstüberl are offered the opportunity to wash their clothes and feel fresh.
- Shower facilities: Hygiene is a basic need. The Vinzenzstüberl therefore provides shower facilities so that people can freshen up and regenerate.
- Hairdressing service: A well-groomed appearance contributes to well-being. That is why there is a hairdressing service every Thursday at 2.00 pm, which is available to the guests of the Vinzenzstüberl.
The motto of the Vinzenzstüberl is: "Have a heart for the poor - great will be the peace of your heart." These words are not just an invitation, but a promise that the love and compassion lived here will not only bring inner peace and fulfilment to those in need, but also to those who give.
