Craftsmanship is more than just a profession - it is a cultural asset that connects generations, conveys values and creates quality of life. Knowledge, experience and passion go into every handmade pastry and every woven Striezel.

Especially in a fast-paced, digitalised world, genuine craftsmanship is a valuable counterbalance. It creates regional identity, promotes sustainability and brings people together. This makes events such as the "Night of Indulgence" organised by traditional confectioner Jindrak in Linz, where these values are conveyed in a tangible, enjoyable way, all the more important.

An evening full of flavour and skill

On 5 June 2025, Jindrak opened its doors for the 14th "Night of Indulgence" to immerse visitors in the world of pastries and chocolate. Over 700 visitors took up this unique offer - including many young people who were curious to discover how much manual labour goes into food that is consumed as a matter of course in everyday life.

The interactive stations were once again a firm favourite this year. The journey through the world of sweet craftsmanship began with decorating gingerbread hearts, a particular favourite with children. No less popular were the Jindrak doughnuts, which are only offered during the carnival season. Visitors were able to try their hand at butterstriezel weaving - with professional guidance and lots of enthusiasm.
At the marzipan art station, experienced confectioners demonstrated how to create artistic marzipan roses from a simple paste - with patience, precision and creativity.

Jindrak: Passing on the craft, awakening enthusiasm

For master confectioner Leo Jindrak Sr. and his son Leo Jindrak Jr., taking part has been a matter close to their hearts for years: "The Night of Delight is a wonderful opportunity to introduce our craft to a wide audience - especially the younger generation.

Every year, I am delighted to see how enthusiastically children and young people take part. Moments like this are important for passing on values such as quality, regionality and genuine expertise."

#schongenial when activities such as the Night of Delight help to make craftsmanship a tangible experience for everyone.
