Backaldrin unveils the largest and heaviest Kornspitz in the world

Appreciation, already ingenious

An impressive ceremony recently took place in front of backaldrin's headquarters in Asten, when Kornspitz inventor Peter Augendopler and renowned artist Erwin Wurm unveiled what is probably the largest and heaviest Kornspitz in the world. This impressive granite work of art was created to mark the 40th anniversary of the Original Kornspitz and backaldrin's 60th birthday.

The monumental monument, including its plinth, rises a proud 4.5 metres into the air and impresses with a weight of an incredible 8 tonnes. Erwin Wurm, known for pushing artistic boundaries and his humorous depth, attached great importance to accuracy when creating this masterpiece in order to come as close as possible to the original Kornspitz.

"We sent Mr Wurm a sample Kornspitz, from which he created a model and then this fascinating and realistic work of art. With its 8 tonnes, we have created a monument to what is probably the heaviest Kornspitz in the world in Asten," explained Peter Augendopler proudly.

Erwin Wurm, who taught at Viennese art academies until 2010 and has his roots in sculpture and multimedia, thanked his client for the uncomplicated and successful collaboration. "In order to give the artwork a similar colour to the original, we opted for granite. As it is a very demanding material, it required a lot of manual labour as well as milling."

The granite Kornspitz in front of backaldrin's headquarters is not only an impressive symbol of the company's success story, but also a tribute to a popular biscuit that has been capturing the hearts of people all over the world for four decades. It is a tribute to the Kornspitz, which is not only an Austrian culinary ambassador, but also a symbol of innovation and quality in the baked goods industry.
