The Hydrogen Centre at Montanuniversität Leoben is a research facility that focuses on the development and application of hydrogen technologies. It plays an important role in research into renewable energies and the sustainable use of hydrogen as an energy carrier.
The centre works on various projects dealing with the production, storage and use of hydrogen, including the development of fuel cells and electrolysers. It also promotes cooperation between science, industry and other research institutions in order to find innovative solutions to the challenges of the energy transition.
One current project involves the construction of the new hydrogen centre, which will open in autumn.
By working closely with companies and other institutions - with the Green Tech Valley Cluster playing a key role here - the hydrogen centre will contribute to the development of technologies that help to reduceCO2 emissions and promote a sustainable energy future.
Peter Moser, Rector of the Montanuniversität, emphasised once again at the Green Utopia award ceremony that the Montanuniversität Leoben contributes to overcoming social challenges in the areas of resource scarcity, climate, energy and the environment through excellent research and education and how important networking and interdisciplinary cooperation are. The Green Utopia project strengthens the location and creates space for visionary ideas.
