ÖFB launches major initiative for more respect and fairness
At the heart of the initiative is the idea that fair play should not only be practised on the pitch but also in everyday life. Above all, it is about acting responsibly and treating everyone with respect, regardless of origin, appearance, faith or sexual identity.
Numerous offers have already been created, including further training on the prevention of violence and discrimination for coaches and referees as well as guidelines for clubs and officials on the development of behavioural guidelines.
We love fair play!
The slogan "We love fair play! Do you too? Put your hand on it." is an appeal to all members of the football family to become active and contribute to greater sportsmanship, both on and off the pitch. The ÖFB is using the EURO year as the starting point for this initiative and will begin implementing it at the four upcoming quarter-final matches in the UNIQA ÖFB Cup. The platform http://www.wirliebenfairplay.at offers a wealth of information and target group-specific offers on the topic of fair play as well as a variety of materials to spread the call for fairness both online and offline.
ÖFB President Klaus Mitterdorfer emphasises football's responsibility to society: "For this reason alone, we have a very special responsibility to society. We want to play an active role and help shape our environment in a positive way. With the help of football, we can convey values based on respect and understanding, bringing people closer together instead of dividing them."
The more members of the football family join the call for fair play, the greater the joint contribution to social coexistence will be.attention, recognition, respect and appreciation are THE building blocks of a successful society.
