#schongenial: Mr Just, thank you very much for taking the time for this interview. Can you explain to us what is behind the concept of alternative living at Miteinander?
Thomas Just: Alternative living is an innovative living concept that enables people with disabilities to lead a self-determined life in a supportive community. The individual needs and wishes of the residents take centre stage. The aim is to create not just living space, but living space - places that promote social participation, personal development and personal responsibility.
#schongenial: What makes this concept so special?
Thomas Just: One major difference to conventional forms of housing is that our residents act as tenants and therefore assume a high degree of personal responsibility and co-determination. At the same time, we offer a customised care concept that provides support exactly where it is needed - be it through 24-hour care, personal assistance or mobile services. This combination of independence and professional support creates a unique environment.
#schongenial: Can you tell us more about the new residential groups that are currently being built?
Thomas Just: Three new residential groups are currently being built that offer a modern and forward-looking model of living together. Each residential group is designed to be barrier-free and offers space for three to four residents. We are particularly proud of the new location in Ried, which will be completed in autumn/winter 2025, and the Oberfelderhof in Wels, which will open in spring 2026. Both projects are optimally connected to the local infrastructure and offer state-of-the-art, homely facilities.
#schongenial: What does the care actually look like?
Thomas Just: Our care combines a family atmosphere with professional expertise. In addition to 24-hour care, residents can take advantage of up to 40 hours of personal assistance or mobile care per month.
#schongenial: Are there currently still places available in the new residential groups?
Thomas Just: Yes, there are currently still five places available in two of the three residential groups. Anyone who is interested should contact us as soon as possible, as we allocate the places after a careful selection process. It is important to us that the group composition is harmonious so that all residents feel comfortable and can benefit from the community.
#schongenial: Thank you very much for these exciting insights into your concept.
