Together instead of alone

residential community for pensioners, vivio

The aim of "VIVIO" is to create a new home for senior citizens, but also a lively space for community and activities. Located in Oberwart, the project is a lively residential community for people over the age of 60. Through the joint efforts of the Protestant Church, Diakonie and OSG, this project was created to appeal to older people who are not yet dependent on care, but long for social interaction and an active lifestyle.

VIVIO - more than just living

The vision behind the project is clearly defined: Individualised living in self-designed flats, combined with the opportunity to take part in a wide range of community activities. The pastor of Oberwart, Sieglinde Pfänder, emphasises that "VIVIO" is a conscious response to the needs of older people who are looking for their own home but do not want to do without the benefits of community.

A sense of community instead of isolation

A central meeting point of "VIVIO" is the communal room, which serves as a place for get-togethers and shared meals. The focus here is on togetherness, whether at mealtimes or in an inviting coffee house that both residents and guests can visit.

It is important to emphasise that "VIVIO" is not a care facility and is explicitly aimed at people who have not yet reached a care level. The "VIVIO" is open to people of all faiths and is therefore a place of encounter regardless of denominational differences. The residential project comprises a total of 23 flats ranging in size from 30 to 60 square metres. The first tenants moved into their new flats at the beginning of February. The "VIVIO" thus fills an important gap by offering an attractive alternative for older people looking for a harmonious life together in their golden years.
