Over 400 young people from all over Upper Austria enlivened the historic halls with energy and community spirit. At the "Open Day", visitors were able to immerse themselves in the past of the youth fire brigade and at the same time experience what contemporary and innovative youth work looks like today.
Youth with passion - today and in the future
What started small 60 years ago has developed into one of the largest youth movements in the country. Today, over 13,000 young people are involved in the youth fire brigade - with around 2,000 new children and young people joining every year. They learn teamwork, responsibility and technology - skills that they often take with them into active fire service. This makes young firefighters an important foundation for the future of fire services.
Technology, team spirit and strong cohesion
Another highlight: the presentation of modern training technologies such as drones and virtual reality, which will be part of youth work in the future. The day was rounded off with a festive ceremony at which not only the young people took centre stage, but also those who accompany and support them - the youth workers. They are the ones who pass on this enthusiasm and enable lively cohesion.
"Our youth is motivated and strong for the future!"
"Today's celebration - 60 years of fire brigade youth in Upper Austria - stands for 60 years of living cohesion, commitment and enthusiasm. It is important to show the history and development of young firefighters - and how impressively they present themselves today. Our youth is motivated and strong for the future! Anyone who has experienced this enthusiasm need not worry about the future of our fire service," said FPräs Robert Mayer, Provincial Fire Service Commander, summarising the congratulations and words of encouragement from those present!
We also think 60 years of young firefighters in Upper Austria is #schongenial.
