Who will be the "Vifzack 2024"?

vifzack 2024, agriculture prize

Once again this year, the creativity and innovation of Styrian farmers will be honoured with the coveted "Vifzack Prize 2024". Six promising projects have made it to the final selection.

The outstanding ideas and projects in the running for the Innovation Award:

  1. "Opening the barn doors" - Farmfluencer Melanie Haas
Melanie Haas, also known as "Farmfluencer", shares captivating stories from the life of a farmer on Instagram. Her aim is to show the diversity and innovative power of agriculture and to sensitise young people in particular to this important topic.
  2. "Tofu in pumpkin seed breading" - Christoph and Christina Knittelfelder
The Knittelfelder couple specialise in Styrian tofu and present a sustainable alternative using regional soya beans. A tip from the farmers themselves: Bake tofu in pumpkin seed breading or toss in seed oil.
  3. Europe's first mobile poultry fattening house - the Hütter family
The Hütter family from Krusdorf proudly presents Europe's first mobile poultry fattening house. By keeping geese, ducks, turkeys and fattening poultry on pasture, they are focussing on a life in freedom for their poultry.
  4. "Fire and flames from the Vulkanland" - Richard Krenn
Richard Krenn offers customised barbecue and oven wood under the "Vulkanland Hulz" brand. The part-time farmer from Hatzendorf brings the forest into the living room and serves the trend towards convenience in the firewood sector.
  5. Colourful chicken and quail eggs - Susanne Rauch and Anton Uller
At the Sepplhof farm near Gnas, Susanne Rauch and Anton Uller breed a wide variety of chicken breeds for a colourful variety of eggs. Each egg is unique, and customers appreciate the variety in the 1-kilo boxes from the farm or in regional department stores.
  6. Aquafarm and vegetable growing - Martin Temmel
Former professional musician Martin Temmel breathes new life into his parents' disused farm. He combines fish farming and vegetable growing with an aquaponics recirculation system. The "LiesingtalerEdelwels" from the aquafarm is free from microplastics and antibiotics

Decision on 7 March

It will then be announced which of these fascinating projects will be awarded the "Vifzack Prize 2024", highlighting it as an outstanding example of innovation and creativity in Styrian agriculture. Who is your favourite?

Already brilliant. We make positive things visible.
