In view of these findings, the quality of building materials and interior design are becoming increasingly important when it comes to health aspects.
Why wood is ideal for healthcare buildings
As a natural material, wood plays a special role here. It not only radiates warmth, but also regulates humidity, exudes a pleasant fragrance and has an antibacterial effect. These properties make wood an ideal building material, especially for healthcare buildings such as hospitals, which are intended to support the healing process. In Europe, the first clinics have already been built in timber construction to make the stay more pleasant for patients and staff.
Dialogue Timber Construction 2025: Exchange of experts and practical examples
The event Dialogue Timber Construction 2025 is dedicated to precisely this exciting topic. Under the motto "Wood on prescription", the connection between wood and health will be highlighted on 11 February 2025 in Kepler Hall at Johannes Kepler University Linz. Environmental medicine specialist Dr Hans-Peter Hutter from the Medical University of Vienna will demonstrate how wood has a positive effect on our well-being. In addition, the Tübingen Medical Clinic, a showcase example of timber construction in the healthcare sector, will be presented.
A panel discussion with experts from business, politics and architecture will shed light on the question of whether wood should play a greater role in healthcare buildings in the future. The dialogue promises exciting insights into the connection between architecture, nature and health.
The event will take place from 15:30 to 18:15 and participation is free of charge. Interested parties can register until 4 February 2025.
#It is #schongenial that around 47% of Austria's land area is covered with this ingenious raw material. In addition, around 30 million cubic metres of wood grow in the country every year, of which around 26 million cubic metres are used sustainably.
