"It's about St. Pölten, Austria and the world. It's about everything," says Tarun Kade, curatorial director of Tangente St. Pölten, describing the diverse programme of the event, which features a colourful mix of visual arts, theatre and performances, music, literature, science and discourse formats.
The currently relevant topics of ecology, remembrance and democracy form the main focus of the festival. "The present is the 'tipping time' in which the future must be shaped. Tangente St. Pölten is concerned with the question of how we can regain room to manoeuvre and shape the present. And it is itself an attempt to do just that. We want to touch people with art and culture," explains Tarun Kade.
Discover St. Pölten
The Tangente Festival also invites you to discover St. Pölten and aims to revitalise the provincial capital with its numerous venues. These range from the Festspielhaus St. Pölten and Museum Niederösterreich to the Landestheater Niederösterreich and KinderKunstLabor to the Domplatz and the newly renovated former synagogue.
Creating spaces for encounters
Guest performances, co-productions and in-house productions, exhibition and music projects, conferences, festivals and educational activities, a dedicated festival centre, etc. are planned. The numerous collaborations with local initiatives and new and existing institutions involve the entire city and its surroundings in the programme and aim to create spaces for encounters.
