Travelling safely in old age

For many older people, public transport is much more than just a means of transport - it is a piece of freedom. Because mobility means participation: in social life, in the community, in everyday life. To ensure that senior citizens in Salzburg can travel safely and with a good feeling, Salzburg Linien offers regular safety training courses especially for older passengers. An offer that not only informs, but also empowers.

Training for more safety and self-confidence

This initiative focuses on practical and theoretical tips to facilitate safe behaviour on buses - especially Salzburg Linien trolleybuses. Participants practise getting on and off the bus under real conditions, the correct use of handholds and seats as well as how to buy a ticket or the correct behaviour in special situations such as a sudden braking manoeuvre. The practical sessions are supplemented by easy-to-understand information on correct behaviour on public transport.

The training is carried out by experienced experts - often long-time drivers themselves or senior citizens with a lot of experience in everyday public transport. The training sessions are free of charge and take place regularly at the Obusremise Salzburg. Prior registration is necessary, as the groups are deliberately kept small to allow for individual support.

An offer with heart and attitude

"Older people are among our most loyal passengers," emphasise those responsible at Salzburg Linien.

"They deserve special attention and support when it comes to their safety and well-being on public transport."

The training sessions are designed to break down inhibitions and allay fears.

We think this service is #schongenial.

It's nice to see so many positive things:
