Under the umbrella of ASKÖ Upper Austria and Special Olympics Upper Austria, an inclusive event was organised in which wheelchair and pedestrian runners competed on an equal footing.
Inclusion in motion
The pupils were divided into mixed groups and each group had around 15 minutes to complete as many laps of the running track as possible. It wasn't just performance that was important, but working together. The goal? To raise funds that will then be made available to nine ASO schools with special needs for new sports equipment or improved sports infrastructure.
Sponsors make the difference
Strong partners are needed to make an event like this a success. This is where UNIQA Versicherung comes into play: as one of the main sponsors, it not only provided financial support, but also signalled a clear positioning of values: namely that promoting exercise, inclusion and local community are among its priorities.
Sponsors such as UNIQA enable event organisers to plan and implement the logistical implementation (e.g. infrastructure, wheelchair inclusion, timekeeping, catering) and the long-term impact (procurement of sports equipment, sustainable promotion) within a reliable framework. Alexander Schinnerl, Regional Director of UNIQA Upper Austria, emphasises: "Such events show what sport can really achieve: It brings people together, creates understanding and joy in movement. As UNIQA, we want to support precisely these moments."
#schongenial, how sport connects people regardless of their personal circumstances.
