This initiative in Kenya developed into an organisation that is now also active in Germany and Austria. Here, SOLWODI supports women and children who have become victims of human trafficking, sexual exploitation or domestic violence - with shelters, counselling and support on the way to a self-determined life.
Art as a bridge to the unspeakable
There are topics for which words are not enough. Art can open doors, awaken emotions and make connections comprehensible. In the autumn exhibition "PHÖNIX. Rising from Silence" at the Kunstrampe by Sparkasse OÖ in the Tabakfabrik Linz, social concerns and artistic expression merge. Together with SOLWODI Linz, the artist Vivien Kabar is showing works that touch, shake up and open up new perspectives. Her photorealistic style makes the pictures accessible at first glance - but a deeper dimension unfolds behind the surface. It is about injuries, about violence, but also about strength and new beginnings. Here, art becomes a mouthpiece for those who have long remained silent.
A symbol on the European Day against Human Trafficking
It is no coincidence that the opening is just one day before the European Day against Human Trafficking on 18 October. The exhibition is therefore also a strong signal: against violence, against silence - and in favour of the dignity of every human being. "PHÖNIX" invites you to look and think.
#It's #schongenial when companies like Sparkasse Oberösterreich show how art can make social issues visible.
